Elsevier Subscription Agreement

September 18, 2021

Norway`s goal is for all publicly funded Norwegian research papers to be open by 2024, and the government has set out guidelines and measures for open access to research papers. Institutions and consortia that negotiate agreements with publishers shall ensure that such agreements promote open access without increasing the total cost and that the conditions are open and transparent. Elsevier did not make an acceptable offer for the Norwegian consortia. Update March 12, 2019: UNIT has not reached an agreement with Elsevier for 2019. However, BI retains access to 68 of BI`s most read magazines based on other subscription agreements. In the current subscription system, scientific articles support Paywall and major international publishers are increasingly demanding subscriptions. We recommend these tools (works best in Chrome and Firefox): you can find these versions by searching in Google Scholar. You can search all Norwegian depots at NORA. There are several ways to access articles in journals to which the IB is not subscribed: many scientists and institutions archive accepted manuscript versions of articles in digital repositories.

Most universities and higher education institutions have their own repositories. The BI faculty makes research articles available in the BI Open archive. The manuscript accepted by the author (or post-printed) refers to the last peer-review manuscript before editing. BI is a member of Universities Norway (UHR), a cooperation body for 33 accredited universities and universities. UHR has adopted a common negotiating strategy for open access to research papers.
